Our 7-12 Carnival at Landy Field was very Victorian. Geelong showed us the famous 4 seasons in one day and the beautiful skies turned to wind and gusts before the storm washed out the afternoon program. The fun and very competitive relay events were the biggest omission,

Members of our student body from junior campuses were the guests of Ford for an over night adventure which offered them the opportunity to view some of the latest technologies including robots and drones, but also a chance to be on the Today Show breakfast program. Thank you Ford.

When Mark, Regional Manager -Geelong of Conservation Volunteers arrived at our Campus with his small team we had a piece of ground that has been planned by students for our whole community to enjoy. When they letft we have a wonderful basic structure which will have more student work to make it a truly remarkable cultural and learning space. Thank you to the planning team, to Silvio, to Melissa for bringing it all together and especially Mark and his Volunteers.

The Ardoch Foundation working through the support of GMHBA were able to fund an amazingly successful program for young families in our our Corio community. A very special thank you to over 30 exhibitors who gave up their time to share some pathways and careers support to our students at our Careers Expo. Our students were just wonderful on the day showing genuine interest, respect and politeness to their guests. We also need to say a big thanks to a healthy number of family members who came along to help support their children or even in some cases to make themselves better informed. It was terrific experience for the students and we will be referencing this event for the rest of the term in our studies..

The Northern Bay College community is devastated to have learned of the tragic accident on 15 April which resulted in the death of a 14 year old College student. It is with deepest sympathy to his family and all others who have been affected by this event that we share this sad news..
We advise all community members to seek support and advise that staff will be available on campus to talk with families and students who may requiring support. With many thanks to Bunnings North Geelong and the Activities Organiser Paula - our 2015 Preps were given a bucket, instructions and a seed potato in October. By December so many of them grew and produced lots of new potatoes. Thank you Bunnings (and family members with green thumbs!) who helped our young students learn in really practical ways where and how our food grows. Check out some of the successes!

During December the Graduation and Awards ceremonies were held at the Croatian Community Centre. Year 8 students were celebrated as the ended their association with the P-8 Campus where many enrolled in the original school structure. Year 12 Graduates had their final achievement recognized and were wished great success for the future.

Hendy Campus students, several who have only been in Australia for a few weeks helped Launch the College EAL You Tube. In the very early stages of getting support and advice to EAL families on line the College EAL Multicultural team have begun some information videos.
The Geelong Advertiser will have a story on the initiative. Many families form the Karen Community attended the launch and although the current few are in Dari, the plan is to expand to more languages.

Bunning's North Geelong are a great support to the College especially if we have a special event and plenty of helpers! As part of Conservation Week a fantastic team from the local store came ( armed with hundreds of dollars of plants ) to beautify the garden beds near the 6-8 Building. The Applied Design Engineering Program (ADEP) is part of the State Government funded Skilling the Bay initiative. The Gordon is working with Deakin and Northern Bay College to deliver a rich immersion program capturing the essence of design engineering for advanced manufacturing featuring cutting edge technologies and engineering design processes for our Year 9 students.
The exemplary program is a ten day program undertaken over ten weeks during term 3 and 4. Students will be based at The Gordon and have on-site experiences at Deakin’s CADET facility as well as selected advanced manufacturing enterprises.

During the last week of term the Year 7 girls badminton team and the Year 8 boys soccer team participated in the Western Metro finals in Altona and Werribee.

All the students represented the college brilliantly, behaviour was excellent and great sportsmanship was displayed at all times. The convenor of the soccer, who is the head of the Geelong Sport Coordinators, made comment at a meeting I attended today on how well our boys had competed.

This week is National Refugee Week and as part of the curriculum activities each campus teacher has been provided with additional materials to support learning. The week is also important for general discussions in the community and an import opportunity for students and schools to get together to discuss is the Model UN. This special forum creates a mini United Nations forum where students become delegates for a Country, study a current issue and then speak to the United Nations assembled. Goldsworthy Campus was proud to host the regional Model UN during 2015 Refugee Week at the GITTC.

The Annual talent quest at the College takes place on all campuses with Goldsworthy Campus hosting a show for the first time. Students faced audiences and judges in their quest to be 'Talent spotted' with Judges selecting performers to move forward to the Showcase on 4 June.
Despite the winter chill the showcase finalists were given a warm welcome by the audience. Every one is a winner at NBC.

Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund (CSEF)
CSEF will be provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. The allowance will be paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, or sporting activities for the benefit
of your child. The annual CSEF amount per student will be:
• $125 for primary school students
• $225 for secondary school students.
How to Apply: Contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application Form or download from www.education.vic.gov.au/csef
Closing Date
You should lodge a CSEF application form at the school by 26 June 2015.

As you may have seen when you visited the Campus for a lesson on Switch, or if you caught the Advertiser Article on 5 May, Northern Bay has a wonderful new concept to support learning. With the help of families our students will be able to go to a You Tube video and get a fun and informative lesson at home - before they come to school to learn the skill. In this way, topics will familiar and much easier to understand in the classroom. Teachers too will be able to offer more individualised support because concepts will be covered in a shorter time frame. Check out the College SWITCH site which of course will grow into a good library with students also making learning videos in the future.

For many years the Telstra Kids program has provided small grants to schools through their Telstra Kids program but this year they invited Victorian Regional Schools to tell a story of what they could do to make a difference to lives of Victorian regional students. It is with great appreciation to Telstra Kids that we can announce that 10 thousand dollars has been allocated to Northern Bay to provide support for students in the College who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. On 20 March students from the College who cultural heritage is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander had the experience of a lifetime performing their own compositions to an enthralled Audience at Geelong Performing Arts Centre (GPAC). This public concert was the culmination of a week of workshops with the reknown Opera Singer Deborah Cheetham AO.

Our Wexford campus celebrated Harmony Day with an Assembly and a very special Kite Flying activity. Some years ago English as an Additional Language (EAL) students at the Goldsworthy Campus made and flew a Kite. Three of the students now with strong abilities in English came to Wexford to re-launch the kite.

On a beautiful February evening Hendy families had the opportunity to visit the learning communities on Campus and many for the first time saw inside the exciting new P-2 learning areas. After Mrs Wood and the campus student leaders welcomed the families, School Council President Mrs Friswell told everyone how thrilled she was to see the campus looking so fantastic - inside and out. On Wednesday 3 December our four P-8 Campuses Year 8 students joined Mr Clarke, School Council President Mrs Shonah Friswell and special guests at a Graduation and Awards Ceremony. The evening was hosted by 2015 College Captain Jessica Taylor and Goldsworthy 2015 Leaders Anis Gul Mohammad Ali and Anita Qayyumi.

On arrival guests and students were greeted by carol singing from our tireless troop of performers.
As well as the very important moment when each Year 8 received their scroll from their Campus Principal there were Special Achievement Awards for Learning and other Major Awards recognising outstanding skills demonstrated by the outstanding young people of Northern Bay College.

47 fantastic Ford workers have transformed our grounds at Wexford and we could not be happier.
Last Friday 12 September we welcomed the men and women of FORD Head Office in Melbourne to our Campus. All over the world Ford workers must give back to the community as volunteers during a special week in September. For the third year running, Baclinks (an arm of Karingal) have organised with Ford to make Northern Bay College the recipients of their generosity. Check out the pictures of the day.

On Saturday 13 September, 51 students from NBC joined other schools across Victoria to entertain 10,000 people over two shows at Hisense Arena. The day was truly spectacular and I would like to congratulate all the students involved as well as thank the teachers who came along to support this amazing experience. For those of us fortunate to have been at the concert on Monday 8 September, it was amazing. What a talented group of young people we have. Starting with the College Band and ending with the History of Dance from the staff, there was non stop colour and action. There were so many highlights that I can't wait to buy the DVD to refresh my memory.

On 20 May families came to visit the Goldsworthy senior site and the Geelong Industry Trade Training Centre. Staff led tours of the learning domains and were really pleased at the number of NBC students getting really excited about their future learning. A fantatstic opportunity was taken to have Northern Bay College lead Geelong in the participation of Music Count Us In. Students and teachers from every campus joined others from many Geelong schools at GPAC to sing a song at 12.30pm. Is that a big event? Absolutely - because across Australia thousands of others were singing the same song at the same time in an all Australia event.

The Worldwide Volunteer program by the Ford Motor Company saw 35 members of the Ford Volunteer Corp arrive at our Goldsworthy Road Campus on 12 September to donate their energies to gardening, painting cleaning and basically revitalising our grounds.

Geelong's Mayor Cr Keith Fagg and Cr Kylie Fisher made a visit to the Wexford Court Campus. During the visit Cr Fagg looked over the city planning which had been designed by the 3-5 Community. In a surprise visit reknowned coach Kevin Sheedy popped in to conduct a mini Masterclass.
