Community Engagement

Each campus tries to ensure all students, parents/carers and families feel safe, welcomed and supported on campus and parents/carers are encouraged to participate in and contribute to campus activities. Parents/carers want the college to provide a secure, safe and caring environment for their children and Northern Bay provides avenues for parent concerns and requests to be heard and attempts to address these. Parents/carers can contact teachers in a variety of ways and receive a timely response.

The College periodically reviews existing policies, practices and procedures, in consultation with parents/carers and students, to identify issues and gain input into existing processes and practice. Parents/carers are welcomed through mechanisms such as student led conferencing, informal sessions with the Principal team, committees and school council.

Campus staff want to work with parents/carers and students to develop guidelines and expectations around learning and behaviour, and to plan support for individual needs.
Parents/carers routinely promote Northern Bay and celebrate its achievements in the wider community. The College believes that parents/carers and family partnerships as a key strategy to improve student outcomes and value requests about how families can support learning at home.

The College encourages parents/carers to talk with their child about what they are learning at school and actively engage in home learning activities.

Campuses are actively seeking to improve community engagement and invite all parents / carers to take up the opportunities on offer to make the most of the family school partnership.
